Erin, Ontario Information

Erin Ontario Downtown

Erin, Ontario is one of the province's best kept secrets.  Located about 80 kilometres northwest of Toronto, the town is very conveniently situated for those who work in either the GTA or the Kitchener Waterloo. There are approximately 11,000 people in Erin and it is primarily a rural municipality. Farming is still an important economic activity, but most of the population works in the nearby cities of Brampton, Mississauga, Guelph, or even Toronto. The headwaters of two major rivers, the Credit and the Grand, rise in the municipality, and residents are blessed with rolling hills, forested valleys, and a beautifully scenic countryside.

Erin, Ontario is composed of the former Villages of Erin and Hillsburgh, plus the hamlets of Ballinafad, Brisbane, Cedar Valley, Crewson's Corners, and Orton, as well as the former Township of Erin. If you happen to be traveling through our town, and you don't want to be marked as a foreigner, pronounce it "Earin" not "Airin".

The industrial park in Erin is filling up quickly with a number of new industries, as the town offers a favourable tax structure and easy accessibility to the economic heartland of Ontario. Being located in the "Technology Triangle" which includes the cities of Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge and features many of the new high-tech industries that are driving the "New Economy" is one of Erin's biggest advantages.

In the year 200, Erin, Ontario built an impressive multi-use facility aptly named "Centre 2000", that incorporated an existing arena with a new high school, a theatre, library, tennis courts, and space for community support programmes.  The town also boasts an impressive outdoor recreational facility at Barbour Field, which can handle an enrolment of over 800 children and young adults in the local soccer programme.
